FALMOUTH GAME SUMMARY 12/05/14 YORK 63 - FALMOUTH 49
After trailing by as much as 13 points early in the game, the Lady Wildcats managed to cut the deficit to 4 points at the end of the first quarter. Poor shooting in the first game of the season contributed to the slow start. By half-time, York lead by 2, thanks in part to good defense and the shooting of Chloe Smedley who scored 8 in the quarter. The third quarter was the best of the game as York outscored Falmouth by a 26 to 8 margin, led by Shannon Todd's 12 points. Good team defense and solid work from the reserves resulted in a final margin of 14 points.

Down early once again, the Lady Wildcats responded quickly, gaining a 13-10 advantage after one with five different players scoring. Six players scored in the second, resulting in a 27-18 halftime advantage. The third period was decisive as York outscored the Warriors by a 17-4 margin, putting the game out of reach and ending with the final 55-33 score. Shannon Todd scored 9 of her 11 points in the third with Emma Thomson scoring all 9 of hers in the fourth. Nine different players scored while playing good team defense resulting in 17 steals and forcing Wells into 29 turnovers. |
LAKE REGION GAME SUMMARY 12/12/14 YORK 55 LAKE REGION 41
Trailing 12-0 in the first four minutes, the Lady Wildcats regained their composure and managed to narrow the deficit to 7, with a first quarter score of 7-14. After narrowing the deficit even more to one point at the half, York outscored Lake Region by 10, resulting in a 40-31 lead after three. The final score was the result of a 14-10 margin in the fourth. Once again, 9 different players scored, led by Shannon Todd with 20. Mia Briggs and Chloe Smedley chipped in with 8 apiece and a total of 13 rebounds between them. Team defense was solid led by the quickness of the guards, especially Paige McElwain and Shannon. |
GRAY- NEW GLOUCESTER GAME SUMMARY YORK 35 GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 52
After a promising start in which the Lady Wildcats jumped to a 14-12 lead in the first quarter, Gray rallied to take a 1 point lead at the half. The game was still close after three quarters with the Lady Patriots holding a slim 3-point lead. Then the roof caved in on the Lady Wildcats as a combination of poor shooting on our part and great shooting on Gray's part resulted in the deceiving final score of 52-35 in favor of Gray. York was held to a season low of 2 points in the fourth quarter while Gray scored 15. Shannon Todd managed 17 points in the losing effort, while Lily Posternak had 8 steals and Chloe Smedley gathered 9 rebounds. Now we know what we need to do to get better.

It didn't take long for the Lady Wildcats to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they quickly took command over the Freeport Falcons, leading by a score of 23 to 6 after one quarter. Six different players scored in that quarter and 11 scored in the game resulting in a decisive 67-27 victory. Only Chloe Smedley and Shannon Todd scored in double figures as 9 other players tallied 41 points in the victory. With a 4-1 record at this point of the season, the Lady Wildcats are outscoring their opponents by a 54.8 to 40.4 margin.

Kennebunk came out shooting in this game, scoring 6 three-pointers in the first quarter alone and 9 overall. York matched the scoring pace and actually came out ahead after one by a 26-17 margin. Mia Briggs and Chloe Smedley scored 18 between them in the first quarter. The Lady Wildcats tightened up their defense after the first and allowed only 21 points over the final three periods. Nine individuals scored and Erin McCafferty dished out 7 assists along the way. A good win over a rebuilding program. Now it's on to the Holiday Tournament.
