Coach Rick Clark is in his 33rd year of coaching the Lady Wildcats from York. His first year was in 1982 after 3 years with the Boys' JV Team, 2 years with the Boys' Varsity, and 5 years with the JV Girls. His overall record heading into this year at the varsity level was 474 wins and 214 losses (10-27 with the boys). The York girls have made it into the Western Maine Tournament under Coach Clark 30 times in the past 32 years, making it the 8th most successful program in that respect among all schools in all classes in the state of Maine. Western Maine Championships were won in 1985, 1992,1994, 2009, and 2010. State Championships were won in 1992,1994, and 2010. 22 times York teams have made it into the Western Maine semi-finals advancing 14 times to the Western Maine Championship game. A 2009 inductee into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame, Coach Clark was named Coach of the Year in Maine and New England in 2010. Coach Clark is very proud of the 18 players from York who have advanced on to play collegiate ball,, but is even more proud of the 100's of young girls who have played for York and have moved on to enjoy happy, successful, and productive lives as young women knowing they left behind a legacy of sportsmanship, hard work, success and friendship.
