FALMOUTH GAME SUMMARY 01/05/15 YORK 55 FALMOUTH 65
In a game that started out so well, with a 16-11 point first quarter lead and a 32-19 first half lead, a valuable lesson was learned as the Lady Yachtsmen used home court advantage and a loud crowd to overcome the Lady Wildcats. Despite scoring the same number of points from the floor, foul shooting by Falmouth and sloppy defense by the Wildcats resulted in the sudden turn of events. While Falmouth shot 24-32 from the line, York managed only 14-21. Now it's on to the very tough Greely squad on our home court.
GREELY GAME SUMMARY 01/08/15 YORK 48 GREELY 43
In the most complete game of the year, the Lady Wildcats beat the previously once beaten Greely Rangers with a solid team effort. Led by Shannon Todd's 16 points and the 3-point shooting of Emma Thomson (3-3) with 11 points, a great team effort on defense held Greely more than 10 points under their average. Chloe Smedley and Mia Briggs controlled the boards with 12 and 10, respectively. Impressively, 16 of the 17 baskets were assisted - the result of unselfish play and good passing.
KENNEBUNK GAME SUMMARY 01/10/15 YORK 73 KENNEBUNK 21 (HOOPS FOR A CURE GAME)
Another game against a struggling program resulted in another lop-sided win. York led after the first quarter by a 20-2 score and the lead kept growing despite pulling off the press and playing a drop back zone defense. Mia Briggs (12), Lily Posternak (11), and Shannon Todd (10) led the scoring while Chloe Smedley (9) and Emma Thomson (9) weren't far behind. In all, 10 Lady Wildcats scored. This was the fourth game in eight days and now we face Wells in 3 more days.
